Job Title:

Senior Oracle Database Architect and Administrator

Division/Department:

Open Systems Database

Basic Function:

Architect, deploy and support the highly available database solutions for mission critical large Oracle databases to meet the front and back office application requirements. 

Primary Responsibility:

1.        Architect Scalable and High Availability Solutions for large databases with heavy transaction and batch activities.

2.        Build and Maintain Oracle Real Application Clusters

3.        Diagnose and resolve Production problems

4.        Disaster planning/mitigation/recovery (understanding of Physical standby and EMC SRDF)

5.      Daily Server maintenance, Health Checks

6.      Performance optimization of Database Instances, Applications and Wait Interface Analysis

7.      Proactive Maintenance and Monitoring

8.      Capacity and Scalability Planning and Database physical design

9.      Understanding of stored procedures and triggers

10.     Setup Database monitoring and maintenance and integrate with enterprise management infrastructure

11.  Mentor and coach junior database administrators

Other Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate tools and new product releases. Researching the new features and engineering
  • Work with application development groups on designing the database architecture to meet application needs. Help the application team with SQL Tuning

Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years experience with designing, deploying, administering and supporting Oracle Databases. Recent hands-on experience with 10G databases (Clustered with ASM)
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience of deploying and supporting Real Application Cluster (RAC).
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with data replication technologies (Experience of Oracle Streams is desirable)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with UNIX shell scripting and/or Perl Scripting.
  • Experience on architecting and implementing high availability solutions.
  • Good knowledge of PL/SQL and SQL tuning.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong background supporting mission critical applications in financial industry.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to other RDBMS systems such as Sybase and SQL Server
  • Sybase or SQL Server migration to Oracle
  • Understanding Oracle Grid Control  Concepts, and experience with grid configuration and administration
