Director of Project Management

Job Description:

We are looking for a seasoned Director-level manager to lead our team of
project managers in delivering projects successfully and developing as
both individuals and a team. The ideal candidate will help us
establish additional best practices in project management and manage the
team in the challenging environment of a fast-growing company building
products ranging from rich-media handheld applications to Web 2.0 tools
to large-scale data systems.

Responsibilities:

- Leading and growing a department of ~20 project managers to deliver
projects on time, on budget, with delighted customers and a happy team.
- Improving existing project management practices and establishing
additional best practices, drawing from experience and analysis of
existing process standards.
- Coaching project managers through project issues and production of
quality project management deliverables (e.g. project plans, estimates,
and functional specifications).
- Facilitating communication and learning within the PM team and across
other teams (e.g. Development, QA).
- Managing career development via performance reviews and goal setting.
- Providing direction and motivation to the team.
- Managing relationships with peer Directors within Product Development
team and with heads of other departments such as Services, Marketing,
and Sales.
- Tracking and communicating critical project issues, risks, and
decisions to executive management.

Required:

- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated experience through 5+ years of hands on project
management experience using a formal software development methodology
- Experienced multiple full project lifecycles from concept to delivery
- Demonstrated leadership capacity (teams of 5 or more in
multi-disciplinary environments-e.g., technology, user experience,
design)
- Exceptional teaching and interpersonal skills; able to work
effectively with junior employees as well as senior executives
- Direct managerial responsibility for 15+ individuals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization skills; creativity and objective-oriented focus
