Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategic Programs, this key individual will be a critical contributor to the growth of new business capture efforts for the Commercial Space Sciences business sector.

You will be a key driver in the customer relationships between the Division and government/industry leaders in Civil and/or DoD Government with direct accountability for strategic growth and order input.

Duties include:
' Develop and maintain relationships with key customers/partners in Civil and/or DoD Government.
' Responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic roadmap of pursuits and coordinating with Senior Manager Strategic Programs, Capture Managers, Strategic Marketing and Legislative Affairs.
' Assess business trends, requirements, US government POMs, budget and funding initiatives.
' Matures the opportunity through the Value Based Product Development process.
' Works with appropriate functional experts as needed to identify SSD's key discriminators, price to win, and win themes.
' Determines the human and capital resource needs working closely with functional leads to establish the capture team to pursue a particular program
' Oversees proposal teams to ensure a discriminating, winning, profitable and executable proposal/program plan is submitted that meets the customer need and price to win.
' Works with other Capture Managers, Engineering, Operations and Mission Success to synthesize VOC and create innovative common solutions to satisfy related customer missions
' Works with the marketing and strategic planning staff as needed to support a wide range of activities that include branding, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and alliances.
' Expectation of business travel to 30% - 50%.

Experience - External:
A BA / BS in a business or technical discipline (MBA preferred), minimum of 15 years professional work experience with 5-7 years in business development roles.

' Proven experience opening up new markets and/or inserting new products into existing markets.
' Broad background covering multiple customers and multiple technologies.
' Experience in the business development process from initial pursuit through proposal.
' Ability to build business cases for strategies, plans and opportunities.
' Able to speak at conferences, write reports, white papers and articles.
' Ability to interact with executives at the most senior levels.
' Aptitude for both managing and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives.
' Requires discrete knowledge and experience within the aerospace industry, with discriminating technical product development and marketing communications skills.
' Motivational leadership skills and drive to win in an ultra competitive environment are key attributes for this position.

Ability to travel is expected in order to meet customer expectations and business objectives.

U.S. citizenship is required. Most positions require candidate to have a current, favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). Some positions will require completion of a polygraph examination.

Candidate Must Have :
* At least 5 years business development experience with large company and/or competitor
* Government business development experience with proven results
* Capture management and/or acquisition experience
* Bachelors Degree
