Education 

o BA, BS or AA or equivalent work experience 
o 3-5 years relevant technical experience 
o Preferable 5+ years of Operating System experience 

Required Skills (Must have), Necessary industry experience & associated numbers of years of experience. 

" In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2000 Server, Server 2003, Server 2008) 
" Knowledge of relevant Microsoft technologies including, clustering, load balancing, IIS (5.0, 6.0 and 7.0), patch management, Security and policy control, Hyper-V, Powershell. 
" Working knowledge of x86 Server hardware technologies especially IBM xSeries, HP Proliant and HP/IBM blades 
" Working knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies 
" Working knowledge of network technologies (LAN/WAN, load balancing, firewall) and Windows system management tools 
" Experience implementing solutions for multi-tiered applications on Windows platforms 
" Strong analytical skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to think strategically and act tactically 
Desired Skills (Nice to have in addition to the Required Skills), Necessary industry Experience & associated number of years of experience: 
" Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs 
" Experience with one or more of the following software technologies; Microsoft SQL Server, VMware Infrastructure 3.x, Microsoft SMS/SCCM 
" Knowledge of project planning and management, including scope, time and resource management. 
" Demonstrated project guidance with delegation experience 
" Preferable 3+ years of direct customer service experience 

Any Certifications Required: 
MCP or MCSE preferred 

The Senior Systems Engineer in the Windows Platform Engineering Group is responsible for overall support, implementation and maintaining standards for Windows Server platform technologies for the Information, Infrastructure and Research Services organization. Candidates must be proficient in Windows Server Operating Systems and related components. In addition, experience with a diverse set of 3rd party tools/applications including, but not limited to backup, monitoring, antivirus, inventory management, deployment tools, and OS patching. Senior Systems Engineers must be able to manage project work, exhibiting strong time and project management skills. We are seeking an individual who can work independently with little to no supervision, can make a contribution to a diverse technical team and wants to grow with new technologies. 



Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities 

" Overall support of the Windows server environment including level 1-3 support and participation in 24x7 on call rotation 
" Server OS installations and upgrades including 3rd party install/configuration, backup/anti-virus 
" Evaluate new technologies relevant to the Windows server platform and supporting infrastructure 
" Translate Business Unit goals and requirements into technical solutions which meet architecture standards 
" Work on virtual teams in a collaborative/consultative fashion
