Individual will be responsible for supporting enterprise Solaris and Red Hat on Sun SPARC and Intel platforms, along with NetApp SAN and NAS and related NetApp software solutions. The individual will be involved in architecting and deploying virtual systems and physical hardware, storage, and systems software. Individual will be responsible for supporting mission critical applications in Production, DR, QA and Development environments. Individual will lead IT Operations projects and provide technical design recommendations along with performing day to day support. Individual will be supporting Netbackup Media servers and backup integration with Symantec Puredisk. Individual will be working closely with the UNIX team, DBA's, Microsoft Admins, Networking teams along with the application development group.
Competencies:
§ Experience in Sun hardware running SPARC and Intel with Solaris 10 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6.
§ Experience in Sun Solaris Zones, Containers, Global Zones and Sun Clustering technologies.
§ Experience in Sun Flash Archive solution.
§ Experience in VMWare on Red Hat Linux Platform.
§ Experience using NetApp SAN/NAS storage and software solutions.
§ Experience in NetApp Snapshot, SnapMirror, SnapRestore, SnapVault, and FlexClone solutions.
§ Experience in NFS and Fiber Channel storage configuration.
§ Experience using Symantec Net Backup and NDMP for backup and recovery to diskpools and tapes.
§ Understand system and database factors affecting Oracle and Sybase database and application performance.
§ Demonstrated understanding of networking performance issues and requirements including IPMP and NIC bonding.
§ Demonstrated skills in UNIX shell programming in and related UNIX utilities such as SSH, MUSSH, and PERL.
§ Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in an efficient team environment.
Responsibilities/Duties:
§ Leads UNIX team to support projects and develop appropriate solutions with technology options as needed.
§ Provides hands on support of UNIX environment including O/S administration and physical hardware support.
§ Interfaces strongly with DBA, Networking, Microsoft, and development groups.
§ Designs and architect technology solutions to support the environment growth and business needs.
§ Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and problems, both tactical and strategic.
§ Manages Solaris and RedHat Enterprise Linux on both SPARC and Intel platforms, including NetApp SAN's.
§ Provides formal processes and methods to administer and support systems.
§ Performs proactive monitoring, performance resolution and appropriate scaling of systems.
§ Oversee general management and upgrade/patching process for all environments.
§ Manage and implement security practices and controls as needed to insure systems.
§ Provides backup, system recovery and BCP/DR process and procedures.
