The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of major technology development initiatives for the The Organization’s Program team stakeholders. These initiatives are highly visible, strategic projects and may be of enterprise scope, and will include: scope management, change management, project planning, budget and resource planning, cost estimation, tracking and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
· Successfully manage the delivery of projects specific to the Program teams including end to end management of the admissions, placement and student achievement from needs analysis and requirements gathering, construction through user acceptance testing and training.
· Effectively manage on going support and enhancement of Program applications
· Manage organizational resources efficiently - time, people and budget
· Develop and maintain cost-conscious project plans that meet organizational objectives and timelines for both technology solutions and business process improvements
· Identify key project stakeholders both internally and externally, including vendors, and managing those relationships in support of a comprehensive approach to each project
· Manage and communicate status of active and pending projects to all stakeholders on a regular basis including business stakeholders, technology enterprise architecture and development teams.
· Create and maintain meeting minutes and action items
· Proactively manage and mitigate issues and risks
· Assess scope of projects, including the direct and indirect costs of completion
Qualifications
· At least 8+ years of project management and experience and two or more years of previous experience as a technical project contributor
· Expert level knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle with experience on large software projects.
· Proven technical project management skills.
· Experienced in mapping requirements to technical architectures and solutions.
· Excellent knowledge of PMI standards and software development process.
· Experienced in various software estimation techniques and budgeting activities.
· Experienced in production support, release management, ROI proposals and IT systems implementation
· Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently
· Operates effectively, and with a sense of possibility, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
· High sense of urgency with ability to drive results
· Detailed knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project is highly preferred
· Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong presentation skills to all levels of leadership with proven expertise in managing meetings, presentations, and design sessions. Includes coordination of regular project and ad-hoc meetings and working sessions.
· Risk assessment, negotiation and problem resolution skills
