Standard inventory metrics include optimization of lead time, MOQs and stock level. Achievement of required customer and corporate service level and inventory days on hand targets.
This is a very exciting opportunity for an individual interesting in combining their passion for food, with supplier relationships management, coordination of product components, forecasting capabilities, negotiation skills and accurate recordkeeping and reporting. This position provides the right individual the opportunity to take ownership of all aspects of supply chain management. Reporting will be directly to Vice President of Operations; this position contributes significantly to the team’s achievement of sales, gross margin, and inventory and turnover goals.
The inventory specialist will help to drive the long-range business strategy within the company. Procurement and international sourcing experience is required but a willingness to be flexible and open to learning is just as important to succeed in the position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Control Buyer o Places purchase orders for finished products, components, packaging and special order items. o Interaction with suppliers/vendors to maintain positive relationships. o Reviews inventory levels to ensure all customer needs are met. • Import / Logistics o Manages import paperwork from time order placed with vendor to arrival at warehouse. This includes all governmental and regulatory releases. Approves and provides paperwork to Finance, and appropriate 3rd Party Providers (Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers, Public Warehouse, and Drayage Companies). o Coordinates shipments to arrive on a timely and cost effective basis. • Cost Analyst o Calculates and maintains products costs based on vendor cost, currency, and related expenses. o Works with brand managers to develop costing for product line extensions and new products. • Forecasting / Planning o Uses both subjective (future sales expectations) and objective information (sales historical data, distribution changes) to maintain inventory levels that will meet both sales and company objectives. • Consumer Services o Supervise all consumer correspondence. o Determine and handle quality issues as per approved documented process. • Other duties and special projects as requested.
Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred • Four (4) years minimum business experience in Purchasing, preferably in the food industry • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel experience essential • High level of organizational skills and time management skills • Strong analytical skills • Ability to build working relationships with vendors and colleagues
