Description:    The Network Engineer Security Consultant will be responsible for performing a variety of security consulting services including network security assessments, information risk assessments, and network penetration tests. The consultant has primary responsibility for execution of information security and risk consulting engagements with respect to network-related processes and components. The consultant has direct, client-facing engagement responsibilities as part of the aforementioned security risk consulting team. 

This position requires a high-end networking individual that will be performing security consulting for client IT networks and interfacing with the companies, in-house network team. Expert level knowledge of enterprise networks, perimeter and firewall security is essential. Additional system experience with Linux/Unix operating systems is desired. Advanced knowledge of technologies and methods used to prevent and detect unauthorized system access and data loss is essential. 

Essential Functions: 

• Identify network vulnerabilities using a variety of tools and techniques 
• Act as Subject Matter Expert in the design, implementation and operations of leading perimeter security products (Cisco ASA/CheckPoint/Juniper/Palo Alto) 
• Analyze and rank potential vulnerabilities 
• Review network design and architecture 
• Review information security policies and procedures 
• Develop and present executive reports 
• Assess regulatory compliance requirements against client’s security controls 
• Work directly with the client’s executive and network management team 
• Analyze network configurations and utilization 
• Evaluate client security products and make recommendations on selection 

Experience: 

• Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and 
Troubleshooting and use of Cisco Best Practices 
• Extensive experience with the implementation and administration of leading firewall and perimeter security products 
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP 
• Knowledge of information system architecture and security controls (i.e. firewall and VPN device configurations, operating systems configurations, wireless architectures, databases, specialized appliances and information security policies and procedures) 
• Knowledge of best practices standards relating to security administration and generally accepted information security principles and practices. 
• Experience with leading network security scanning tools such as nmap, Nessus, Qualys, Nexpose 

Education and Work Experience: 

• Bachelors degree (BSEE) and five years network engineering experience 
or 
• MSEE and two years network engineering experience 

Professional Certification such as CISSP, CCNP, CCSP, CISSP, CCIE
