DESCRIPTION:

 

We are currently seeking a Principal Software Engineer- Market Data who can help us innovate for the future and further our growth with first class global Market Data Delivery solutions for our applications. 

 

Located in our Culver City development office in Southern California, you will be responsible for full lifecycle software development as well as project coordination of small and medium size projects of our cutting edge Market Data Delivery applications.

 

Our systems receive real-time and end-of-day data from vendors, process, store the information, provide GUI management utilities, create advanced proprietary value added analytics and content, and serve the data to other applications throughout the firm using a multi-threaded, TCP/IP based client/server infrastructure.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this position you will be a liaison between the Market Data Development teams, application development groups outside of Market Data technology, QA, Product Management and Operations to achieve cohesive solutions that meet time and delivery requirements.

 

You will have the opportunity to research and prototype new technologies and 3^rd party vendors to help us stay at the cutting edge of global market data delivery technology by improving the design, architecture, resource usage and performance for our trading and research applications throughout the company. 

Your client/server, object oriented Java programming and relational database skills will be invaluable in learning in-depth our current delivery technology to help drive and build the next generation of our global Market Data Delivery infrastructure.

 

Your ability to communicate effectively with people in different application areas and ability to bridge technology and business will be crucial to get the right data from the right places to the right people. The market data and financial industry knowledge you bring to the table will be an asset as you help application developers and product teams to expand ITG’s applications with new and value data content to build new solutions that strengthen and expand ITG’s position as a industry leader in trading and research.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 To be considered qualified for this position, candidate MUST HAVE:
 
 

* Core Java (J2SE) skills including threading, socket communication, NIO, JDBC.

* Unix (Solaris)/Linux environment experience. (Windows development a plus)

* SQL programming and relational database programming skills (Sybase experience a plus)
* Knowledge of domestic (USA) and international Market Data including security master, pricing, analytics, tick data and more
* Ability to work interdependently with teams in different areas including clients, application development, QA, operations and product management
* Ability to multi-task and work in a demanding, time-critical environment
* Object oriented design and analysis

* Middleware messaging concepts (Request/Reply, Asynchronous, Broadcast)
 
 

* Office tools including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project
 
 

Additional experience/knowledge that is considered desirable:

 * C# .NET, Visual Studio.

 * Scripting languages such as Perl or Shell scripts.

 * Windows NT/XP environment.

* Experience with ClearCase
