Reinsurance accountant - (US-NY-New York)

Compensation: $60 - $65 / Hour

The position requires a clear knowledge and proven abilities in:
• Quarterly premium & claim analysis
• Retrospective rated premium and commission accruals analysis
• Funds held and quarterly reserve reviews
• Collection and cash application

Responsibilities:
• Collect and apply cash.
• Maintain and reconcile the cash application process for LOC drawdowns by clients.
• Process loss payments and reconcile paid losses to claim data.
• Calculate and book entries for contracts with adjustable terms (Ex. - contingent commission and RRP).
• Assist unit manager in preparation of management reports, and in preparation of quarterly and year-end financial reports.
• Special projects as assigned by management

Skills and Knowledge:
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive reinsurance experience
• College degree and/or professional education (AIAF, CPCU) preferred
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite required with specific emphasis on Excel and Access
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and be results oriented
