Architect/Lead for Search Division

To: $140K

Java, JSP/Servlets, Spring, Hibernate, Struts, XML etc. 

 Location: Jersey City

 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Architect will contribute to the design and development of large-scale applications. The Architect will have a solid understanding of open source and mainstream technologies powering all aspects of Web application development database architecture, software code development and component integration. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Lead and mentor all search index development team members.
• Instill best practices across all development efforts.
• Manage R&D for both next generation product development and new product development.
• Assist in resource planning and allocation.
• Participate in buy/build decisions

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

• Experience designing and deploying Enterprise Software Applications on industry standard frameworks required.
• Excellent application development skills with tools like Java, JSP/Servlets, Spring, Hibernate, Struts, XML, & the like.
• Strong object oriented programming skills.
• Experience with distributed architecture required.  (e.g. Applications running on 10+ servers)
• Experience with database design, development and performance tuning  required
• Must be an experienced team leader.
• Ability to think creatively and suggest alternative development solutions.
• Ability to complete projects on a timely basis with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Substantial real-world experience and prior involvement working on high-visibility software projects and managing multiple projects concurrently
• Experience with high volume, high-performance systems a plus
• Experience with Information Retrieval a plus
• Search engine technology experience (Lucene, FAST, Verity / Autonomy, etc.) a plus
• Search domain expertise (e.g. crawling, indexing, document parsing, linguistics, relevancy, query log analysis, etc.) a plus

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Bachelors Degree in Information Systems (or other computer-related discipline) or equivalent experience
• 7+ Years experience
