Linux Engineers- NY and NJ CODE AABJA33

Job Description:

We have two open positions.  Data Center Engineers (one Jr. and one Sr.)Strong Linux is fundamentalTomcat experience is preferred but not mandatory.  If not tomcat then instead of having 1 other expertise (e.g. SAN, Cisco IOS, Oracle, High Availability (F5), Windows) they would need 2.

For the senior role they are looking for someone with the skills and desire to grow into a management position.  The successful candidate should have a minimum of a BSEE degree and 5 or more years of experience supporting complex web environments and applications in a data center environment.  Candidates should have some knowledge of telephone networks and strong knowledge of datacenter operations supporting customer systems and services.  The duties of the job are attached below and the successful candidate would be required to work closely with a development team that provisions the customer services. 

 
Main duties and responsibilities:  

On call support for NY Local specific applications and web infrastructure.

Manage the rollout of web application content

Maintain current Firewall and security rules on web and extranet browsing firewalls.

Maintain group firewall policies.

Ensure all local web infrastructure is compliant with latest patched software and hardware.

Maintain on a daily basis the integrity of DNS database and managed additions, deletions and changes

Experience of maintaining a large Web/Application infrastructure

Strong firewall support and engineering skills on Cisco Pix

Good web server knowledge: IIS, Apache. Authentication mechanisms: LDAP, SecureID, client certificates.

Experience with SSH remote access infrastructures.

Good technical knowledge and background on all new Web technologies

2 or more years related experience with Apache and Tomcat environments

Excellent working knowledge of DNS Bind protocols and Proxy concepts.

Experience working with change and production control procedures.

Capable of effective written and verbal communication with co-workers

UNIX administration skills including; SOLARIS 2.8 administration

MICROSOFT - W2K 4+ years experience with supporting complex web environments and applications. Position requires hands-on technical skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting. Experienced in Unix, NT, and Windows 2000.

Knowledge of Load Balancing and bandwidth limiting devices. F5s - BIG-IP.

Practical application of TCP/IP and switched/routed networks.

Skills and knowledge: (Specific product knowledge/PC skills/languages etc)

3+ years experience with supporting complex web environments and applications. Position requires hands-on technical skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting. Experienced in Unix, NT, and Windows 2000.
