Trading Support Senior and Principal 90ish with 15% bonus NYC

DESCRIPTION:

 

The incumbent will be heavily involved in monitoring and supporting the company’s internal trading applications.  He or she will be a key contributor in supporting, troubleshooting, and integrating equity trading applications issues and ensuring problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. The individual will be working in a cross–functional environment, in close cooperation with many diverse areas of the firm. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·         Troubleshoot trading application issues, determine source of problems, and identify solutions for internal and external clients, using technical and analytical expertise and knowledge of systems.

·         Categorize, prioritize and resolve software application issues dealing with all levels of equity trade order and routing systems.

·         Interface frequently with external business and technical partners.

·         Participate in test, document, release, and provide post/pre installation support for list based trading applications, algorithm servers, and trade desk integration software.

·         Liaise regularly with the trading desk and communicate the status of outstanding requests.

·         Interpret client requests and takes appropriate action to produce high levels of customer satisfaction that are balanced with business needs.

·         Manage the team workload effectively to ensure service level targets are met, or escalate appropriately.

·         Proactively seek ways to provide a better service e.g. process improvement, both tactically and strategically, implement new process or enhancements

·         Provide an overall atmosphere of continuity and transparency with respect to application releases, resolution of issues and other system matters impacting our internal and external clients.

·         Prepare and deliver training and presentations to colleagues and other business units.

·         Deliver the project-based activities required without compromising daily support service delivered to business users.

·         Interview, train and mentor new team members

 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

·         Proactively monitor Windows and Unix Server based applications including list based order management system and algorithm servers

·         Perform on the fly configuration changes for internal (example: Trading Desk) and external clients.

·         Perform morning and evening system health checks, representing the team in daily production status call.

·         Perform capacity and resource analysis to ensure  proper load balancing and redundancy

·         Liaise regularly with the trading desk and ensure awareness of system issues.

·         Provide off-hours Support during weekends and holidays on an emergency basis; some key nights and weekends may require on-site coverage

·         Communicate with multiple departments on closure on escalated support calls.

·         Communicate effectively with key business users and managers regarding day-to-day support.

·         Provide dedicated hotline, as well as face-to-face support to internal and external clients.

·         Participate in Recovery Outage scenarios.

·         Perform UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for new Production application/functionality.

·         Daily testing in Production environment.

·         Enter Support tickets into a tracking database for reporting purposes

·         Document, share and communicate product and business knowledge with team members via knowledge base database, daily EOD process, and routine email correspondence.

·         Manage Recovery Outage situations, including identifying monetary exposure to the trading desk.

·         Lead multi-group projects of varying sizes concerning new business initiatives, technological initiatives, system maintenance, and system upgrades.

·         Prepare training material and train new and existing employees in various Core Routing functionalities.

·         Manage routine System Contingency testing

 

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

·         Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a cross-functional environment including development, networking,
operating systems, database, application servers and web serving

·         Proven knowledge of global equity markets

·         Demonstrated ability to resolve a variety of trading and pricing issues, such as incorrect reports from external destinations, busted trades, price corrections and erroneous trades.

·         Proven knowledge of Nasdaq I and Nasdaq II times and sales using Bloomberg, Thompson, and Bridge Market Software

·         Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail and ability to follow through with open issues until resolved

·         Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes

·         Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions within high pressured environments

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate technical and production-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff

·         Demonstrated ability to handle cross-group short term and long term projects, seeing them to completion

·         Demonstrated ability to see the big picture while simultaneously defining detailed requirements in support of the business.

·         Demonstrated ability of successful implementation and support of highly scalable and highly available systems in an n-tier environment that may involve a global focus

·         Demonstrated ability to carry out a client setup, including setting up the initial workflow, as well as carrying out technical details

·         Previous experience implementing and supporting highly scalable and highly available systems in a trading environment.

·         Proven knowledge and understanding of each layer of a software and overall order flow within the systems

·         Demonstrated excellent technical, analytical and problem solving skills

·         Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes

·         Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Senior Level

Principal Level

 

·         B.S. Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline

·         5 + years experience in Second Level Trading support role

Or

·         M.S. Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline

·         3 + years experience in Trading support role

 

 

·         B.S. Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent technical discipline

·         7 + years experience in Second Level Trading support role

Or

·         M.S. Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline

·         5 + years experience in Trading support role
