Global buy side / institutional investment firm, headquartered in New York City, is adding a Data and Voice Network Engineer to their Global Enterprise Technology team.

As a member of Communications Implementations and Operations, you will be part of a team of approximately 12 with responsibilities for engineering and implementing the client's global network, which includes participating in a 24 x 7x 365 on-call rotation. The network spans about 20 countries and you will be involved with both domestic and international projects.

More specifically, you will be involved designing and implementing data and voice projects for our clients and vendors. This includes the full life cycle of the project including requirements gathering; design, implementation of all network facilities (hardware, circuits etc); vendor and carrier relations; thorough documentation and some continuing support. You will be expected to become involved in the evaluation of new data and voice concepts and technologies on an as needed and supplementary basis.

To be qualified, you must be an experienced engineer with capablity of immediately making a difference. You will need to apply sound voice and data network design and implementation practices in order to meet all project requirements. You will function as Project Leader on some initiatives, and as a team member on others.You must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and mentor more junior team members.

Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years data / voice network experience, with at least 1 year in a similar role.
• In depth understanding of Network Management tools.
• In depth understanding of Cisco routers and switches, specifically the Catalyst 3750 and 6500 product lines and the 7206VXR, 3800/2800 Platforms, 3600, and 2600 model routers.
• In depth understanding of TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, NAT, Access-Lists, route redistribution, IP Multicast, VoIP, QoS, spanning-tree.
• Experience building networks in remote domestic and international locations.
• Experience coordinating vendors, carriers and other service providers.
• Experience in a financial services firm is desired.
• Excellent oral and written communication with experience in writing “board level” quality reports and presentations.
• Familiarity with firewalls, VPN and Remote Access technologies is a plus.
• College degree is required.

This position requires participation in 24/7 support, rotated equitably through all team members.
