The Hedge Fund Tax Associate provides compliance services for numerous hedge fund and investment partnership clients consisting of a variety of investment strategies and fund structures, including domestic and offshore side-by-side entities, master-feeder structures and fund-of-funds. The Associate will research tax implications of complex financial transactions and prepare memorandums and opinion letters for clients and colleagues summarizing results as it relates to international, federal, state and local tax law. Responsibilities include reviewing of partnership economic and tax alloca579heither the aggregate or layering methodologies and handling special projects as needed.

Description:
• Provide U.S. tax analysis of transactions
• Handle tax reporting for investors and tax filings
• Coordinate various foreign tax reporting requirements
• Contribute to development and enhancement of technological systems
• Interface with other areas of firm
• Participate in departmental and divisional initiatives
• Contribute to delivery of K-1s to investors on a timely basis
• Provide U.S. tax analysis of transactions
• Manage/supervise small staff
• Assist in special projects as necessary

Qualifications required:
• 3-5 years experience in Financial Services
• Strong software skills
o MS Excel – The successful candidate will be comfortable with formulas, should understand the basics of macros & pivot tables, and be able to navigate and understand complex workbooks.
o In general, candidates should have an intuitive feel and be a quick study for various software applications.
• Hedge fund or mutual fund background ideal
• BS or BA in Accounting/Finance/Economics
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
• Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects
• Proactive attitude
