Individual will be responsible for leading settlement related initiatives while managing day to day activities of a small team of developers and business analysts. This position will be responsible for recommending strategic and tactical changes in work flows considering the integration of both third party vendor solutions and proprietary systems pertaining to middle and back office support departments. The candidate will be responsible for gathering requirements and creating functional and non-functional specifications and regularly meet with the end user to review overall effectiveness and tackle problems related to settlement functionality.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Act as senior business and system analyst to translate client needs into business requirements and system specifications; work with business users across functional groups to truly and systematically identify business problems and propose innovative solutions; communicate requirements to developers and provide guidance for creating test plan and test cases
Manage projects through software development lifecycle and deliver good quality solutions under tight schedule and budget. Coordinate with project leads and developers in pertinent IT groups for necessary changes to mitigate system dependencies and ensure successful delivery
Provide guidance and direction related to the evaluation of existing application products as well as identify and implement innovative solutions related to system improvements and enhancements
Perform necessary quality assurance and acceptance test
Competencies:
Extensive business and system analysis working experience with good understanding of popular requirement management (i.e. RUP) and change control management methodologies
Proven ability to understand complex business process and problems, and transfer requirements to clear functional requirements and system specifications
Has good knowledge in asset management principles, settlements and allocation processes for complex fixed income instruments
Strong understanding of, or experience in, a fixed income management company or middle/back office environment required
Clearly understand purposes, objectives, practices and procedures of the Trade Processing, Settlements, and Fund Accounting departments and related business units
Has a good knowledge and experience with product and project management and familiar with various product management and software project development lifecycle methodologies
Proven effectiveness with leading systems development at both the strategic and hands on project management level or implementation with progressively more complex responsibilities in an investment management client focused environment
Has good understanding of basic technologies such as database, Java, and other front end technologies; Be able to communicate requirements in technical language and understand system dependencies in technical level
Specifications:
Requires 6+ years experience in business and system analysis, writing functional and non-functional requirements for complicated business problems in financial service industry
Requires 5+ years experience in product or project management for complicated financial systems
Require good knowledge of fixed income securities, prefer specific knowledge in TBA, MBS/ABS, SWAP
Requires 10+ years of information systems experience
Basic knowledge of relational database environment, SQL/Oracle, and Java required
Microsoft Windows NT, word processing and spreadsheet applications required
