| Job ID: | Job-1043 | | Job Title: | Linux Engineer | | location: | New York, NY | | Jobtype: | Permanent | | Rate: | $100K - $110K +bonus | | Description: | The Linux System Engineer is a lead position that will primarily be responsible for planning and deploying internal development and production Linux systems in our infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning, installing, configuring, supporting, and optimizing Linux operating systems, Oracle RAC database servers, virtualized technologies, SAN and NAS storage technologies, and information security related to supporting corporate and production systems.
Essential Job Functions
· Administer all aspects of the Linux environment – including but not limited to resource recommendations, installations, proactive maintenance across the Linux platforms, support both virtual and physical environments.
· Design, implement, and maintain storage technologies across the firm. An expertise preferred in but not limited to EMC VMAX arrays, HP MSA technology, Isilon NAS solutions.
· Review and configure new hardware for IT and Forensics projects
· Create and maintain IT policies and procedures related to Linux and storage environments.
· Day-to-day data center operations and system administration
Required Skills
Technical Requirements
Broad technical background, with previous experience and knowledge of multi vendor Linux platforms (i.e. Redhat, SUSE, Ubuntu, etc.), Open-Source technologies, storage technologies (EMC / Isilon and HP), VMware, and IT security, enterprise backup solutions, Oracle RAC knowledge, SAN Boot configurations, Cisco UCS Blade technology, EMC VPLEX solutions.

Work Experience Required
· 2-5 years of IT experience
· Must have experience with Linux operating systems
· Must have experience supporting Linux running Oracle RAC
· Must have solid understand of storage technologies
· Familiarity with specifics of VMware Virtual Center
· Experience with ldap integraton with Active Directory
· Knowledge of Shell/Perl Scripting, SQL queries
· General understanding of networking (TCP/IP)
· Documentation of engineering work (i.e. procedures, descriptions, diagrams, etc)
