                Description:

       

Manage the local medical and industrial hygiene staff while providing medical director level guidance for the site EMS program. 

Will: 
• Directly manage medical and industrial hygiene personnel, and serve as Medical Director for site EMTs and paramedics. 
• Perform medical exams as part of employee physicals and general health & wellness programs 
• Provide organizational leadership and accountability for budget planning and site health services procurement 
• Provide proper implementation of corporate fitness for duty program at the site 
• Ensure consistent implementation of corporate health and wellness programs 
• Assure quality implementation of the Health Services Management Standards and policies for all employees including clinical and health surveillance activities, disability management, EAP and WLB 
• Ensure adherence to standards and governance of all occupational health professionals 
• Coordinate strategy and systems for employee health medical confidentiality for HIPAA and other medical confidentiality statue compliance 
• Act as a “scanner” to identify emerging health issues or trends which may be important to the Site 
• Service as a public ambassador/advocate 
• Conduct and coordinate site employee health studies as appropriate to defend and assess health and safety of company operations and products 
• Provide support and expertise in product and/or health related incidents and exposures (e.g. phosgene) 
• Provide expertise and represent company in bio-monitoring and other public health risk assessments relating to site processes, raw materials, intermediates, products and services. 

The selected candidate is required to possess the following: 
• Doctor of Medicine with a minimum of 5 years overall experience, including experience in emergency and occupational medicine 
• Substantial experience in leadership, health related research and management of skills service 
• Demonstrated ability to be outcomes focused, organized and able to manage projects while moving swiftly to achieve objectives 
• Excellent technical and strategic planning skills 
• Regulatory awareness 
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Texas Medical License 
• Professional networks with local Houston hospitals 
• Experience with industrial chemistry
