Senior MySQL Architect

Needham, MA

Seeking an adept MySQL architect to join our team to design, build, and maintain

mission-critical databases.

The opportunity

Design and manage highly-available, scalable databases using MySQL on

the GNU/Linux platform

Seeing projects through the complete software life-cycle, from design and

implementation to testing and production deployment and beyond

Getting in the door

Expert MySQL database design and development experience (minimum 5

years industry), including:

o Strong relational database design and development

o Large-scale deployments utilizing replication and/or clustering

o Stored procedure design and development

o Database performance analysis, tuning, and query optimization

o Defining and/or implementing data access controls

o Backup and disaster recovery

8 to 10 years of experience in software development using object oriented

and procedural programming

Strong background in developing for GNU/Linux or Unix-like platforms for

mission-critical production deployments

Strong analytical and logical thinking capability

High-availability and scalable network service development

Experience with multi-master clustering and other high availability

techniques

Data warehouse design experience

Proficiency in an industry-recognized scripting language, such as PHP,

Ruby, Perl, and/or Python

Proficiency in C and/or C++

Experience with database internals development

Contributions to MySQL server or its storage engines

Expertise with interfaces, MVC, HTML, CSS2, JavaScript, AJAX,

Templating, caching, sessions, and authentication

GNU/Linux optimization, security and network administration

Secure coding practices

Experience with distributed architecture, design, and implementation

Experience with running Apache or other Unix-based web servers in a

production environment

Industry networking experience, including knowledge of fundamental

protocols, such as TCP, UDP, IPv4/6 and SSL/TLS

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or other related field
