Z/OS Performance Engineer - (US-NC-Charlotte)

Provide performance, capacity, and/or optimization recommendations and forecasts.
Analyze performance and resource usage data for application systems and infrastructure components.
Develop and maintain performance, capacity, and optimization reports and/or models.
Develop, create, and maintain complex processes, procedures, and documentation.
Provide second level problem determination and resolution.
Required (minimum):
•Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent work experience.
•7+ years of systems programming, performance management or performance optimization experience in a z/OS operating environment.
•Experience developing requirements, implementing, and administering z/OS workload management facilities like WLM, IRD, and sysplex distributor.
•Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
•Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, trending, and reporting.
•Excellent problem determination and resolution skills.
•Advanced knowledge of z/OS parallel sysplex configuration, methods, or application enablement.
•Demonstrated experience using z/OS, program, IMS, CICS, or DB2/SQL monitoring tools.
•Experience with data access methods and types including VSAM, QSAM, DB2, and IMS/DB.
•Proven knowledge of IMS, CICS, DB2, or Websphere (WAS for z/OS) subsystems.
•A proficiency in the use of JCL, TSO, and ISPF.
•Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint.

Preferred:
•Experience with Omegamon, DB2PM, MICS, MXG, RMF, STROBE, or APPTUNE.
•Experience with CA-7, zLinux, z/VM, TCP/IP, VTAM, TMS, MQ Series, or Lotus Notes.
•A familiarity with storage management and the principles of I/O performance.
•Experience programming in SAS, COBOL, JAVA, or Assembler language.
•Experience supporting a multiple LPAR/CEC computing environment at a large financial institution.
•An understanding of batch and online transaction optimization methods and processes.
