Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

This position requires an experienced engineering graduate with interest, studies and experience in mechanical engineering and analysis.
The individual will be part of a highly motivated and results oriented team engaged in research, design and development of airborne and ground-based mechanical and electro/mechanical systems. The individual must be capable of developing technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity. The individual must exhibit a leadership role and provide technical management oriented towards achieving program and organizational objectives and should recognize some objectives must be attained without appreciable direction. Responsibilities include but are not limited to mechanical engineering, structural and thermal design and analysis, integration, test, interaction with internal and external teammates and suppliers, preparation and participation in design reviews and briefings, and participation in proposal and cost estimation activities involving engineering, manufacturing and life cycle costing. The individual will participate in a wide range of engineering and related discipline activities in a collaborative team environment, including participation in all phases of product development from concept to delivery. An understanding of the complete range of product drawings used for specification, fabrication, assembly, wiring, inspection and installation of equipment along with the ability to apply pertinent military and industrial design and drawing standards is necessary. A lean process improvement orientation is desired. Occasional travel is required.
Experience and proficiency with Pro/Engineer CAD tools is required, including the ability to understand and generate 3D solid models. Experience with AutoCAD software is also desired, however, experience with other PC-based CAD software will be considered. Skill developing 2D CAD drawings using CAD software is required. The candidate must have the capability, understanding, knowledge and experience to perform structural and thermal analyses using Finite Element Analysis principles and software tools such as ANSYS or Pro/Mechanical, and must be able to generate analytical reports and presentations.
