Manager, Portfolio Accounting Roseland, NJ vicinity CODE BJFJA2078


To manage multiple client deliverables and to supervise and review the work of several portfolios.  The Manager monitors and develops each client relationship (internal and external) to ensure that optimum service is rendered at all times in the most effective and cost efficient manner.  The Manager is also responsible for associate development of their team including participating in interviewing, performance reviews and training of associates.

 

Job Responsibilities

Ensure Business Unit operates effectively and within company guidelines and standards

§  Manage multiple day to day deliverables

§  Oversee all day to day activities and review deliverables as necessary

§  Ensure all deliverables are completed accurately and on a timely basis

§  Have a high level of understanding of Geneva functionality and reports

§  Be competent in recording transactions on Geneva and providing training

§  Manage the testing of new Geneva  functionality and releases

§  Identify additional Geneva enhancement requirements

§  Ensure all controls are being completed accurately and timely

§  Maintain a SAS70 compliant environment

§  Ensure checklists are frequently reviewed and updated as required

§  Ensure independent checks are completed on funds' assets

§  Work with Supervisors to ensure that all fund issues are being appropriately addressed

§  Responsible for teams compliance with SOP and ensuring that any Unit-specific procedures are adhered to

§  Develop and Participate in department wide initiatives

§  Hold regular team meetings to encourage staff feedback on all issues

§  Develop and/or implement quality service measurement tools to ensure compliance with Company standards

§  Interact regularly with clients, brokers, auditors and vendors

§  Ensure Unit is escalating critical issues to Head of Portfolio Accounting

 

Client Services

§  Ensure deliverables to clients are met by providing accurate information to CS in a timely manner

§  Ensure team provides consistent high-quality services

§  Responsible for ensuring that  team meets client service / client  deliverables

§  Promote team work with Client Services team in meeting deliverables


Ensure effective Staff Development

§  Liaise with HR to participate in the interview and selection of candidates for open positions

§  Ensure appropriate staffing through successful selection and retention of staff

§  Provide associates on team with objectives.

§  Identify training requirements and participate in training of associates

§  Oversee and participate in quarterly associate performance reviews.

§  Manage vacation, time off of associates in conjunction with client deliverables

§  Work to keep voluntary turnover on team and department at a minimum

 

Planning and New Fund Setup

§  Oversee human resource requirements for team with head of Portfolio Accounting;

§  Manage implementation of new clients;

§  Review offering documents and ensure compliance.

§  Work with Client Service in planning upcoming events and resolving significant complex issues

§  Manage project for funds on team to outsource functionality increasing team capacity for funds and quality assurance

 

Ensure Internal and External Communications are timely and of High-Quality

§  Monitor quality assurance;

§  Ensure all deliverables go through proper review

§  Act as technical and knowledge resource to the team/business unit;

§  Promote positive Company image in all internal and external communications

§  Perform timely and regular reporting to senior management;

§  Meet with clients as deemed necessary

§  Resolve issues and address high level client requests in conjunction with Client Relations.

§  Communicate development requirements to IT and manage projects for the business unit.

§  Managing PA responsibilities in relation to funds' audits

 

Development

§  Attend conferences and relevant industry meetings as directed;

§  Attend management training courses scheduled

§  Co-ordinate special projects as instructed.

§  Demonstrate ability in acting as a senior technical resource to the team/business unit

§  Attend senior meetings when required as representative for head of portfolio accounting

 

Qualifications

 

¨  University degree (B.A., B.Sc., M.B.A.) in Business preferably majoring in Accountancy or another Financial-related program;

¨  Minimum of five years' industry experience, three of which must include staff management

¨  Exhibit strong accounting knowledge, leadership skills, solid communication skills, quality customer service, knowledge of controls, initiative.
