POSITION SUMMARY:
Technical expert in one or more highly specialized phases of Unix Administration, architecture and capacity planning. Responsible for the daily technical support of all the Unix mid-range systems. Works with the application development team, the infrastructure team, business units and the software vendors to develop and ensure a viable and consistent capacity and recovery solution.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Design and support Unix infrastructure.
. Capacity Planning all Unix Systems.
. Help establish and publish standards for configuring servers on different Unix platforms. Monitor adherence to the standards.
. Help establish, publish and monitor adherence to security standards for access to the Servers.
. Day to day production support including checking daily logs, backup/recovery procedures, disaster recovery, periodic maintenance.
. Implementation of monitoring tools.
. Provide Capacity planning and Security Administration reports.
. Design, write or re-engineer Unix scripts to enhance functionality of system.
. Automate system processes.
. Monitoring.
. Identify, evaluate and recommend the purchase of software, hardware or services that can be used to improve the performance of this group.
. Perform O/S upgrades.
. Supervise Hardware installs.
. Participate in the Annual Disaster Recovery test.
. Work closely with other departments in the definition, implementation and deployment of new initiatives.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
. Expert-level knowledge in UNIX system administration.
. Expert-level knowledge in Backup design and support.
. Ability to define and implement solutions with minimal guidance.
. Expert level knowledge of application servers/middleware products.
. Intense desire to create "new and innovative" solutions.
. Ability to define short, mid and long-term goals
. Detail and process oriented.
. Ability to work independently on large projects.
. Excellent communication skills-written and verbal.
. Excellent time management skills for handling multiple projects.
. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

EXPERIENCE:
. Minimum of six (6) years experience in designing/supporting Unix Platforms.
. Minimum of years (2) years experience in design /support Data Base architectures, ie Oracle/Sybase/Sequel.
