Most important is the ability to configure/troubleshoot and be able to resolve problems/provide solutions with or without guidance and support. A technical MUST HAVE is Checkpoint (on Nokia Platform).     Salary Range: 90K-100K Location: NYC (1 block from Penn St.)   Technical Job Description:   Network Security Engineer   We are looking for an experienced security engineer responsible for maintaining and monitoring the Information Security Systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, firewalls and VPN devices (Nokia, Checkpoint, Cisco PIX, Cisco VPN), network devices (Cisco, Foundry, BlueCoat, Netscaler), web proxies (Microsoft ISA Server), intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, digital security certificates management, network analysis and troubleshooting tools (i.e. sniffers and protocol analyzers).   Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking & sound security engineering principles is essential to understanding the workings of the systems and controls that are in place.   Responsibilities will include:   Building and configuring firewalls, managing firewall policies. VPN access administration, monitoring and troubleshooting. Configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting the proxy server infrastructure. Maintain and monitor various network devices, such as load balancers. Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues. Interface with vendors and customers regarding various network security issues. External and internal SSL certificates management. Document network security setup and changes. Participate in the customer security audits. Report to senior management on changes to the security infrastructure and conduct security audits.   Required technical Skills and Work Experience   3-5 years of practical experience in network security engineering / operations / administration. Solid TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, IPSec protocols knowledge. Proficiency in firewall technologies, specifically Checkpoint on Nokia platform - Cisco PIX knowledge is a plus. Ability to install and configure firewalls. Should have proven practical experience operating and managing the firewalls and not just worked near one. Practical experience with other network security products and tools - Microsoft ISA proxy servers, content monitoring and filtering tools, Windows security. Practical experience in performing network connectivity troubleshooting and analysis, troubleshoot and resolve complex internetworking/security issues. Experience implementing and maintaining IPSec and SSL VPN. Prior practical experience working with network load balancers (Foundry, F5, Netscaler) is a plus. Moderate BSD Unix admin skills, experience with Sendmail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working in mission-critical financial environment. Ability to work independently and with tight deadlines and capable of adjusting to changes in priorities when necessary.
