Planning and Analysis

 

Job Description

  • Independently prepare complex analysis and present findings to management.
  • Conducts and documents moderate to complex financial analysis projects.  Communicate projects opportunities and constraints to management while monitoring project status.
  • Responsible for the coordination and compilation of the annual forecasting process by working closely with senior management for consolidation of information
  • Assist with the annual planning process.  Entails compilation of Full Year and calendarized plan, inclusive of Balance sheet, Reinsurance detail, P&L Statement and Underwriting Expenses.
  • Populate calendarized plan by line of business and location to Great Plains General Ledger.
  • Responsible for the population of Legal Entity and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Full Year and Calendarized Plan template.
  • Coordinate and consolidate the current year rolling forecast.   Includes YTD actual and budgeted information for remainder of the year.  Provide explanation for variances to plan.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvements to processes, controls and technology systems related to functions being performed.  Develop and implement recommended improvements after management approval.
  • Prepare analyses reports such as cash flow projections, trend analysis, broker reports, hit ratios and claim activity reports on a monthly and quarterly basis for senior management with complete documentation of findings.
  • Actively involved with month-end close activities.  Complete analysis of Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow will be required.
  • Prepare and reconcile Roll forwards Reports, Contingent Commissions, Significant Losses and LAE paid and associated Recoverables on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare Monthly narrative of insurance activity, Underwriting expenses, Cash Flow from Operations with detailed explanation of variances to plan and prior year.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.  Pursuit of a Masters Degree is preferred.  Requires a minimum of 3-5 years financial/analytical experience. 
  • Knowledge of GAAP & STAT accounting principles, Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Analysis
  • Quick learner and ability to drive successful results with limited supervision
  • Great attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Great Plains General Ledger, FRX Reporting and Hyperion a plus
  • Strong Access Knowledge is very essential
