Individual will be responsible for leading the next generation development of Charles River Development technology efforts and ensure the proper alignment of technology platform in support of business processes within a fast paced technology environment. After fully understanding and analyzing business issues, this newly created management position will be responsible for recommending tactical and strategic changes while considering the integration of both third party vendor solutions and proprietary systems pertaining to middle and back office support departments.

Competencies:

§ 10 to 15 years of hands on technical experience with systems development or implementation with progressively more complex responsibilities in a client service oriented environment required;
§ Strong technical acumen at both macro and micro level with understanding of, or experience in, a fixed income management company or middle/back office environment required
§ Working knowledge or experience with investment mgmt technologies specific to financial services (e.g., asset mgmt., fixed income, etc.) w/focus on middle and back office systems and/or proprietary platforms ; Charles River Development system expertise is a strong plus
§ Has general knowledge of asset management principles, domestic and international investment process
§ Clearly understands purposes, objectives, practices and procedures of the Compliance department and/or related business units (e.g., trade execution, settlements, etc.).
§ Demonstrated excellence in leading and managing developers and business analyst w/ documentation and presentation tools required to support efforts.
§ Maintains a solid knowledge of corporate and departmental information system strategies
§ Has advanced written and oral communication skills to make technical or non-technical material understandable to the business units and to conduct meetings or training sessions

Responsibilities/Duties:
§ Manages team of developers and business analysts to work directly with clients within the organization and with outside parties to identify operational business requirements with sufficient detail and clarity to allow IT solution development.
§ Managed the analysis of client requirements in project areas such as: IT testing and product acceptance, new business operating models with innovative approaches to IT solutions support, research of emerging or available product functionality, and operational readiness assessments
§ Acting as strategic business partner work in cross-functional task forces to identify and document functional requirements, work flow, information sources and distribution paths, and system specification
§ Oversees the production and maintenance of documentation including open items log, system requirements, systems design and testing plans.
§ Accountable for providing leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating and conducting information gathering structured documentation and presentation of findings
§ Evaluates existing application products, which could address client requirements and develops recommendations where appropriate


Specifications:
§ Knowledge of all phases of system development life cycle, rapid application development methodology required
§ Microsoft Windows NT, word processing and spreadsheet applications required
§ Client-server, 3 tier architecture, and GUI development concepts required
§ Knowledge of relational database environment, SQL/Oracle required
§ Knowledge of Cold Fusion, IIS, ASP concepts/architecture preferred
§ Requires 10+ years of information systems experience.
