In this newly created high-profile position, as a Java Architect/Technical Leader, you will be leading a small team of software developers as they use agile software development practices and the latest Web 2.0/AJAX technologies to create new applications and replace our existing web-applications. You would be responsible for providing technical architecture and vision as well as leading a team of 2-4 software developers throughout an entire development cycle.

This role requires a highly seasoned professional who is creative yet possesses disciplined thought. You strongly embrace agile software development practices, test-driven development, and love learning new technologies and software development techniques.

Responsibilities
• Architect and develop scalable applications in a dynamic environment, using Java, Struts 2 Framework, and the Dojo javascript library.
• Lead a team of 2-4 developers throughout the whole development cycle using an agile software development approach.
• Act as a role model and advocate for best practices around test-driven development, agile software development, and customer-centric software.

Education and Experience

• A four-year degree or more in Computer Science, BSEE, MIS or a related field
• 7+ years experience developing increasingly complex and sophisticated software, of which 3 years were at the architectural level
• 3 years+ as a technical project lead
• 5+ years experience developing in Java
• Strong commitment to test-driven development and other Agile development practices
• Experience developing in Linux, Apache, Tomcat or other webservers and JUnit
• Object/relationship modeling experience and software (IBATIS, Hibernate, Torque, etc)
• Ajax and asynchronous web-application experience a strong plus.
• Experience with Torque framework a strong plus.

Nice to have other experience:
• Exposure to portals is a plus
• Experience working with open source solutions
• Experience with Perl a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Detail-oriented, organized, and possess good writing and communication skills
• Ability to operate effectively, and with a sense of possibility, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
