In this position you will assist in the management of the CB Arbitrage Proprietary Portfolio. In particular you will be responsible for quickly identify opportunities in credit, volatility or event driven strategies; be knowledge of sector fundamentals and how they impact credit, volatility and equity prices; recommend catalyst driven trades research driven volatility or credit investments with a specific time horizon. Specific responsibilities include: 1) New issue analysis a. Quick credit assumptions for new issues using company financial statements, comps and sector dynamics b. Consolidate industry research reports on new issues and make projections on future credit and equity valuations; 2) Daily monitoring of equity and credit research on positions within the CB Arb portfolio a. Track internal and industry research on portfolio b. Make recommendations based on anticipated changes in volatility, credit or market events. c. Reach out to industry research analysts to develop in-depth perspective on companies we invest in d. Generate trade ideas on existing issues not held in the portfolio. Present ideas to PMs; 3) Generate internal research write-up on issues we hold in inventory a. in-depth report on credit metrics, potential catalysts, enter and exit points b. Maintain data base of Convertible research. Update these reports when appropriate; 4) Develop internal communication flow, providing and receiving information and perspective on market events. a. Prop Trading groups b. CB and equity desks c. Equity Research and FI research
Requirements:
You will be degree qualified and possess at least 10 years of convertible bond experience. CFA is required. You will have strong capital structure knowledge with the ability to analyze a companys entire capital structure, from equity, preferred stock, sub debt, sr debt and loans; will be able to recommend the best way to express a view (outright long, relative value credit or equity, and long or short volatility). You will possess an understanding of arbitrage trading techniques and be comfortable executing equity, options and CDS. You will have the ability to adapt to a variety of industry groups quickly given with a focus in Tech or Finance. You will possess strong structuring skills with a deep understanding of covenants, prospectus and bond structures. Must have excellent communication skills and must bring or be able to develop relationships within research teams as well as external research relationships. Travel is required to attend industry conferences and build external relationships. Series 7, 63 and 55 preferred.
