The Key Job Elements Include:
- Define the Electrical Design Requirements, Performance Calculations, Performance Testing, Design Application, and System Integration of Traction Inverters manufactured by a supplier - Define the component engineering requirements and qualification testing for traction inverter phase modules and power circuit components - Work with traction inverter supplier to finalize component rating, packaging, and mounting design - Assist in validating traction inverter components to environmental specifications - Define and validate EMC requirements for complete traction inverter assembly - Coordinate resolution of Field Problems associated with Reliability and Performance of Traction Inverter Components - Communicate Traction Inverter Design Application Information to Systems Engineering, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Locomotive Test Personnel - Travel as required - Special assignments as needed
Qualifications (Required): - BS in Electrical Engineering required with emphasis on design of Electrical Power Systems and Power Electronic Converters - MS in Electrical Engineering preferred with graduate course work related to the design and control of variable speed AC/DC drives and Power Electronic Converters - High analytical aptitude required on the application principles and control of electronic converters to specify, develop, and test variable speed AC/DC drives - Good writing and verbal communication skills - Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Preferred: - MS in Electrical Engineering preferred with graduate course work related to the design and control of variable speed AC/DC drives and Power Electronic Converters - Experience using MATLAB for calculating electrical machine, power system, power electronic converter/machine, or power electronic inverter/machine performance (D). - Knowledge on how power electronic converter and inverter supplied power sources effect the design and performance of an electrical machine (D). - Experience in design and development of power electronic converters and inverters for locomotive or transit AC/DC traction drives (D).
Candidate Must Have :
