Develop and direct the long-term, strategic and asset management focus of transmission and distribution substation equipment.

Responsibilities include the development of specifications, technical and maintenance standards and practices for 500KV through 4KV: GIS, Circuit Breakers (oil, gas, vacuum and air), circuit switchers, disconnect switches, CCVT's, stand alone CT's, PT's, metering units, etc. Provides "Go To" expert support (24 x 7) to field divisions with operational and maintenance issues associated with the previously listed equipment. This position supports the engineering and design activities for construction / operation / maintenance of the substation transmission system. Utilize system expertise and working knowledge of standards and regulations to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance in addition to providing energy solutions for new / large customers.



Provides analysis and solutions of engineering, specific equipment and complex system performance issues through mature judgment, creativity, and originality by utilizing and adapting a broad knowledge of basic engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience, such as switching transient issues, resonance, equipment failures, and equipment mis-operations.



The maintenance of transmission and distribution substation assets requires critical and highly specialized skills to analyze specific equipment and system performance; identify trends and gaps; generate solution options (maintenance / replacement plan); determine system impacts; effect on business targets; and evaluate economic and operational risks. The Substation Equipment Expert is often called upon to: research, investigate, develop and apply innovative technologies and products to foster cost efficiency in the growth and operation of the transmission and distribution system.

This position represents company in technical forums as an active contributing member of professional and technical standards committees (IEEE Switchgear Committee, PJM Transmission Substation Design Standards Committee). Maintain and apply working knowledge of Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls.

Required Competencies:
.BS degree in Electrical Engineering or demonstrated equivalent experience.
.7 -10 years in substation equipment maintenance and substation design engineering. .Working knowledge of applicable codes (ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, NEC, NESC, etc).

Desired Qualifications:

.NJ Professional Engineering License. Advanced technical training.
.Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and/or PhD.
