Description:    Responsible for managing the work of the production support team. The candidate in this role will be responsible for the leadership, administration and troubleshooting of applications running on the Unix, Linux and Windows operating system. 

In addition, \will also be responsible for managing the team of Websphere (WAS) and MQ Admins. Participate in the execution of operational procedures in support of the end-to-end systems. Successful candidates will ensure proper proactive server monitoring, respond quickly to notifications of potential problems and ensure proper problem follow-up. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong background in problem resolution and will be expected to work with all enterprise teams to ensure the application environments are in compliance with all enterprise standards and policies. 

Will be responsible for server administration, application of maintenance packs and vendor provided patches, investigation and troubleshooting of issues, and providing production support to application managers and developers. This person will be a key member in the Application Production Support Team and will support the bank's critical applications for Europe and North America. The candidate will provide written documentation outlining the problem, resolution and what steps or actions will be taken to prevent a reoccurrence. 

· Manage Unix/Linux/Windows application patching program. 
· Manage roll-out of the new applications running on the stand-alone WAS servers or on WAS VE Platform. 
· Manage, install and configure Queue Managers and provide support for MQ. 
· Maintain relationships with enterprise server teams, vendors and architecture groups. 
· Participate in various system projects related to Unix and Linux and provide Application Support, WAS Support and MQ Support for applications running on these platforms. 
· Assess and identify appropriate changes and make recommendations for implementation. 
· Plan, prepare, test and apply maintenance fixes provided by the application vendors. 
· Develop test plans for implementing new software or new releases of the software. 
· Assist application developers with high level problem program debugging and correction. 
· Provide system support including off shift on call support as and when required. 
· Support Disaster Recovery Test. 
· Enhance staff skill levels by cross training. 
· On-Call Support Rotation. 
· Ownership through resolution for any production issues, including documenting and follow up on preventive actions. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS: 

· Must have worked in the production support Manager role in the past. 
· 10+ years’ experience supporting and administering Unix & Linux environments. 
· Experience installing and configuring the application software. 
· Experience in applying application patches and maintenance packs. 
· Experience supporting WebSphere® Application Servers and MQ. 
· Thorough understanding of Unix file system structure and permissions. 
· Experience working with security hardening of the servers and audit requirements. 
· Must know Korn Shell and Perl programming. 
· Experience with Red Hat, Suse Linux and AIX. 
· Strong leadership skills and trouble shooting skills to get to the root cause. 
· Ability to understand complex processing work flows and determine cause and effect. 
· Must have quality team building skills, positive attitude, and attention to detail, self-motivation and strong project management skills. 
· Ability to effectively communicate to and influence all levels of management and peer groups. 
· 7+ years of AIX on pSeries & Red Hat experience. 
· Experience with Scripting using Perl and Korn Shell. 
· Oracle SQL and Toad experience is a plus. 
· Proactive view on problem prevention.
