•Bachelor of Science degree in business, agribusiness, ag-science, agronomics or a related agricultural discipline 
•Five plus years of proven agricultural sales experience 
•Advanced understanding of sales/marketing techniques and knowledge of the assigned products, markets, application technology and customer base 
•Good organizational and planning skills 
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) 
•Advanced persuasive abilities and negotiation skills in order to influence current and potential customers 
•Ability to travel, 75 to 80%, as needed, with potential for some overnight travel, approximately 10%. 

Execute product strategies for assigned Northern Illinois territory (The counties included in this territory are Jo Daviess, Carroll, Ogle Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone, DeKalb, McHenry, Kane and Lake Counties) and provide meaningful data on market trends, competitor actions and proactive customer concerns (The territory is primarily a herbicide, seed treatment and fungicide area with 1.5 MM acres of corn and 900 K acres of soybeans. It includes roughly $16 MM in current annual sales. Among other opportunity areas, the territory holds great promise not only for sales of current additional product offerings. 

The firm develops cutting edge products and sustainable solutions which help safeguard harvests and yields in order to meet the growing demand for high quality food and feed, fiber and energy crops. 

The incumbent will: 
•Develop sales strategies for assigned customers and potential customers 
•Communicate customer requirements to proper internal personnel 
•Participate in local organizations to maintain awareness of industry issues 
•Gather, assimilate and analyze market and competitive information 
•Call on existing and potential customers to sell products and present recommendations on product introduction 
•Achieve or exceed budgeted sales volume for assigned area 
•Develop and update annual sales forecast 
•Assist in formulation and implementation of long and short-term strategic sales plans for accounts within assigned area 
•Formulate and recommend strategies for achieving long and short business plans for key accounts and assigned area 
•Participate in industry trade shows 
•May provide coaching to other employees 
•Assist in establishment and maintenance of travel/entertainment budget 
•Travel 75-80% in territory, as needed, with potential for some overnight travel, approximately 20%. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
•Bachelor of Science degree in agribusiness, ag-science, agronomics or a related agricultural discipline, or MBA 
•Previous crop protection manufacturer or distribution sales experience.
