Description:    Systems Administrator with strengths in Linux systems administration, VMware and SAN for this direct hire opportunity. This is a great role for the Sys Admin who enjoys a diverse technical role spanning Linux, VM, storage, MySQL, and Python scripting while providing additional support for the broader IT infrastructure, etc.

 

Position Title: Sr. Systems Administrator – Linux, VM, SAN, MySQL

 

Location: Rt. 128/Mass Pike Junction, west of Boston, MA.

 

Position Details:

• Install, manage, and support Linux (RHEL, CentOS) servers.

• Manage VMware environment including vSphere, Site Recovery Manager, vCenter Operations Manager, VEEAM Backup and Recovery, and Zimbra email

• Setup and administer open source servers: Apache, Tomcat, MySQL.

• Perform configuration management across Linux servers using Spacewalk and scripts.

• Assist with SAN storage, backup/recovery, and network administration.

• Develop and maintain scripts for process automation, systems and database administration, and reporting.

• Resolve complex issues or problems that impact, VMware, Linux, MySQL database, SAN and network environments.

• Maintain knowledge of current infrastructure technologies, timing and features of upcoming releases.

• Continually strive to automate and enhance operations by identifying areas of improvement, writing scripts, documenting the environment and processes.

• Perform other systems administration duties as project work and operational necessities require.

• Setup and monitor MySQL database backups and replication.

• There will be opportunities for Python scripting to automate processes.

• Assist with IT service monitoring, backup/recovery, and business continuity functions.

 

Experience Profile:

• 4+ years systems administration experience in Linux (RHEL, CentOS) and VMware

• 3+ years VMware administration experience.

• Solid Linux systems administration - particularly with RedHat, CentOS

• Proficient scripting skills (Python preferred).

• Experience with network monitoring and performance management tools.

• Understanding of TCP/IP Suite (TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP) and SNMP.

• Experience with network monitoring and performance management tools.

• Significant knowledge and technical understanding of OS and database technologies.

• Stable record of direct employment

 

Helpful/Preferred:

• BS in Computer Science or related.

• Experience with MySQL administration or support.

• Experience with business continuity planning and execution.

• Experience working in a 24x7 environment supporting SaaS.

• Nagios (monitoring tools).

• PHP or Java skills.

• Experience with SAN, networking, Nagios monitoring system.

• Familiarity with Agile project management.

• Candidates with a broad range of IT infrastructure support experience preferred
