Validates CIP information through documents and non-documentary methods. Performs and records enhanced due diligence (EDD) on KYC data as required. EXPERIENCE: Must have solid knowledge on corporate banking and accounting.

ideal candidate should have studied basic accounting / finance at school or at work.
SKILLS: Must be fluent with certain computer software: Word, Excel, and desirably Access. Bilingual in English and Japanese is a plus.

TITLE: Sr. Professional / Accountant

DESCRIPTION: Daily tasks which include reconciliation of the trading summary P&L between General Ledger and Trading files, review of bank reconciliation. Month end tasks which include month end journal entries, balance sheet and income statement reporting, risk reporting, variance analysis. Quarterly tasks which include preparing management reports and subschedules for Head Office. Annual tasks include preparing audit schedules for the annual audit with external interacting with external auditors and preparation of GAAP financial statements. Other tasks include regulatory reporting, account reconciliations, review of yield curve rates, analysis of lease portfolio (i.e. leveraged leases), analysis of investments.

TITLE: AVP/VP

DESCRIPTION: Work within corporate marketing team to structure, market
and execute interest rate and currency hedging strategies with US Fortune 500 corporations. Contribute to overall desk strategy for marketing interest rate and currency hedging strategies.
EXPERIENCE: MBA (preferably with finance, economics or math background).
2+ years previous experience with corporate derivative marketing or 3+
years corporate treasury experience. Strong fixed income and derivative background.
SKILLS: Ability to work well with others, both on the derivatives desk (sales and trading) and within the bank. Strong derivative modeling skills as well as ability to present and explain concepts to bankers and clients.
Understanding of corporate treasury function.
Job will require traveling, primarily domestic, to attend clients meetings.

DESCRIPTION: Provide support for: 1) Corporate treasury functions of SMBC-Capital Markets including a) the day-to-day administration of investments, borrowings and risk management of the company's portfolio and b)upkeep of funding programs (such as CP and MTN programs); 2) Corporate planning functions of SMBC-CM, its subsidiaries and related entities, including a) preparation and review of routine reports for management, board of directors and parent bank headquarters in Tokyo and b) coordination of various corporate actions with the corporate secretaries;

DEPT: CRVD (Credit Review Department) (Open Jobs - Quantity 2)
TITLE: AVP/VP
SALARY: AVP - up to 85k, VP - up to 110k
DESCRIPTION: Credit Review position. Responsible for credit examination of various business units in SMBC's Americas Division, to access credit quality and credit administration of such units. Evaluate the depth and adequacy of the units' credit analysis, adherence with the bank's policies and procedures and report such findings to management of Credit Review and senior management of the bank. On occasion, head examination teams and supervise the review process involving multiple team members. Perform certain portfolio management functions.
EXPERIENCE: Candidate with strong credit analysis skills with a minimum of
3-5 years experience in a major US foreign or regional bank. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as tact and diplomacy in dealing with senior management. Strong computer skills.
SKILLS: Broad credit experience in a variety of industries, lending disciplines and credit structures.
Ability to conduct domestic and foreign travel for approximately 2 week assignments 2-3 times per year. Overtime as needed.
Ideal Candidate: An individual with sufficiently broad US credit analysis experience in such US (and secondarily international) corporate finance areas as leveraged credits (including buy-outs, recapitalizations and hostile take-overs), structured finance, project lending, trade finance, leasing, etc. The broad experience does not have to be in all these areas, but the more the better as we lend in each one of these categories.
Some marketing experience is a plus, but too much in marketing is actually a negative as the candidate would not have an opportunity to perfect credit skills. The same goes for credit administration - monitoring credit lines, processing credit approvals is not too relevant as that is more administrative rather than analytical.

TITLE: Financial Analyst
SALARY: @ 50k
DESCRIPTION: Credit grading for leveraged loans. Periodical credit review for them. Credit analysis, monitoring, review write-ups, etc. To track the performance of the bank CDO portfolio, to review each transaction periodically, to analyze new transactions, and to help assist in other structured-credit-related activities such as warehousing.
EXPERIENCE: Credit training preferred (NOT required). Leveraged loan market in general.
SKILLS: Word, Excel. From time to time, overtime work is required when the heavy amount of deals come in or credit works
Information: If a candidate does not have any experience in credit whatsoever, most likely we decline the candidate without seeing him/her.

DESCRIPTION: A primary responsibility is to support a portfolio management of the Bank. Duties along include providing assistance in establishing and implementing policies and procedures in the area of portfolio management.
EXPERIENCE: Several years experience in credit risk portfolio management welcome. A Bachelor's degree is required with preferable emphasis in quantitative disciplines (Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Finance, etc.)
SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
