EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
JOB TITLE: Director Finance & Administration Syndicate & Web
LOCATION: New York City
POSITION SUMMARY:
Right -hand of SVP Syndicate & Web and manages all financial and business activities of the division. Works closely with SVP's direct reports and finance/accounting peers.
DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:
- Preparation of quarterly forecasts & annual budget submission including detailed revenue, cost analysis, and supporting commentary.
- Hire, train and manage Financial Analyst
· Oversee and create improved revenue and expense tracking and analysis utilizing PeopleSoft and local financial systems as needed to support business initiatives.
· Oversee preparation of monthly financial close activities including variance analysis of revenue and expenses with emphasis on key business metrics and sales pattern indicators.
· Analyze trends and make recommendations affecting business needs.
· Work closely with SVP Syndicate & Web and VP Web General Manager to review/assess talent and sales contract terms, web advertising performance, and comic/text feature performance.
· Ensure compliance with corporate financial and internal control policies in reference to Sarbanes - Oxley Act
· Work closely with Cincinnati accounting department during financial closes and consult Talent Royalty Manager in proper reporting to the creative comics and text artists.
· Contribute to development and implementation of new Web contract management and Syndicate Sales Order Processing systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· College degree with major in Accounting and CPA, strongly preferred
· 8+ years accounting experience; 2-3 years Public Accounting experience and 4 years as a manager/supervisor preferred
· Familiarity with all aspects of Sarbanes Oxley act and experience working on the requirements therein
· Prior experience as an Assistant Controller or Manager of Accounting at a high transaction volume publishing or internet company preferred.
· Must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong project management experience and able to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. Overseeing financial process reengineering/change management would be helpful.
· Excellent MS Office skills, MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced Level), Power Point
· PeopleSoft skills, a plus
