Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Specific Job Description: This position is for the Intel Line of Business (LOB) Network Architect reporting to LOB Program Office and is a member of the senior leadership staff. As the Lead Network Management Architect, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and base lining of the logical network architecture such as SATCOM, and Global Satellite IPv6 Network, and developing Architectural Services to fixed and mobile networks and users, and in leading the development of next generation network technologies, and to resolve architectural problems and issues associated with Network Management, Information Assurance, IPSEC, Fixed and Mobile Routing, QoS, and Network SLAs. This position requires familiarity with IETF standards, advanced networking protocols, GIG 2E standards. This position also requires the familiarity with architectural development tools such as System Architect. The successful candidate must have: excellent project leadership skills; a solid technical background in Network Architecture Development; a well founded understanding in architectural design methodology; in-depth experience in Network Management; experience with network modeling, simulation, test bed development and network deployments; ability to work with customer and other stakeholders to develop operational and system requirements; ability to lead teams of people in the conduct of the job from a cost, technical and schedule objective; ability to transform Network Architecture into a set of network design requirements. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Typical Minimums: Bachelors degree in an engineering/technical discipline from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 20 years or more of professional experience; or 18 years with a related Masters, or 15 years with a related PhD degree. Viewed as the most senior authority in discipline.
