Looking for a programmer/developer with minimum of 5 years experience working in the financial IT community. Technical skills: Individual must possess excellent RDBMS database design and development skills, particularly in Sybase ASE v12. Working knowledge of the UNIX/Linux environment and Perl/scripting is also required.  Experience with data modeling is highly desirable.

Most importantly, individual must have working knowledge of financial data. In-depth analysis experience working with market indicative/reference data, as well as trade and risk data attributes is highly desired. Candidate should be able to at least describe simple financial data elements and relationships.

Individual must be self-starter, good communicator, and able to work within a large team. Individual must possess strong analytical skills. The role is in the Equity Derivatives group to help design, build and support existing data processes.  The individual will be responsible for design and development, but there is also a heavy support element. 

Skills
Knowledge in the Financial data arena (risk, market and trade data); In-depth knowledge of Sybase, T-SQL, Perl and stored procedure development; Data Modeling concepts and tools

Qualifications

·        At least five years hands-on experience with Perl and Sybase

·        Strong project management skills: documentation, presentation, etc.

·        Strong data analysis and modeling skills desired

·        Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of market data technologies, delivery platforms and content.

·        Methodical in problem analysis and resolution especially when dealing with technical systems and business applications.  

·        Ability to perform vendor relationship management.  

·        Willingness to own problems until satisfactorily resolved.

·        Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge. Willingness to help with training of other team members.

·        A team player with an aptitude to use initiative while also complying with team standards.

·        Good interpersonal, analytical and communication skills  

·        Ability to work well under pressure. Must have had thorough experience of working in a high-pressure support environment.  

·        An ability to adjust to changing demands.

 

 

In both a highly technical and service oriented role, this candidate will provide leadership in the support and development of the reference data infrastructure that supports the Equity environment.   This includes several data sources including Bloomberg, Reuters, AMEX and SIAC.  Candidates must be organized and able to multi-task effectively. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
