POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for monitoring the Mortgage Processors' functions for accuracy and performing EquityLine closings within approved limits in compliance with applicable Federal, State and NCUA rules and regulations. This includes communication with the Mortgage Processors, Mortgage Closers, and Loan Servicing Department while upholding thecommitment to quality member service

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

An incumbent in this position has higher authority level than a Mortgage Processor and has the ability to make decisions on complex situations. This position reports to the Closing Manager along with several other roles associated with Mortgage Closing and Operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø       Processes new applications, monitors the processing of new mortgage applications and the application pipeline to ensure timely processing.  Requires daily contact with the processors, underwriters and constant LP system review.  Work with vendors to ensure documents are received on a timely basis and manage the time and cost of the application process.  Investigate and recommend new vendors to expedite the mortgage process.  

 

Ø       Enter mortgage loans in DU and review mortgage applications entered in FICS LP to ensure 100% accuracy of the data. Review DU submissions to verify accuracy and instruct processors on any errors for training purposes. 

 

Ø       Review the processor's work to verify the three-day disclosures, appraisals, flood certificates, mortgage credit reports and title reports are ordered and received on a timely basis.  Verify that updates to MortgageXPress are completed. Communicate with Mortgage Representatives and members via verbal and written communications as needed.

 

Ø       Clear conditions and monitor conditions cleared by the processors on mortgage applications, make changes to mortgage loan applications if applicable, and update all related documentation in appropriate systems when necessary. Make decisions following all legal and credit union guidelines.

 

Ø       Post/fund mortgage loans and review the post/funding of mortgage and home equity loans by verifying figures and clearing closing conditions, disburse funds and appropriately document in related systems.  Submit completed stacked loans to Loan Servicing within department timeframes and ensure processors have stacked funded loans according to required order; documents are intact and complete, forward all verified funded loan files to Loan Servicing within department time guidelines.

 

Ø       Utilize the Eureka reporting system to complete reports on the stages of the application process, processing and closing and report the results to the Manager, Processors, Mortgage Representatives and Closing Representatives.  Develop new reports as needed, for the proper monitoring of the processor's workflow. 

 

Ø       Monitor the processors work to verify 100% accuracy of data entered in FICS LP and all fields are completed properly.

 

Ø       Maintain accurate HMDA data.

 

Ø       Cross-Sell products to the members.

 

Ø       Process VIP, Family member and Employee mortgage loans.  Ensuring confidentiality of personal information.

 

Ø       Prepare EquityLine and EquityLoan closing documents and perform closings if necessary.

 

Ø       Train Processors on changes or updates on policies, procedures and software.

 

Ø       Update Processors procedures manual as needed

 

OTHER DUTIES

Ø       Alert Management of any issues, problems or needs in the department.

Ø       Coordinate coverage of the reception area when necessary.

Ø       Address any member questions ad-hoc.

Ø       Act as resource in the Mortgage Department.

Ø       Recommend improvements to current procedures by consistently reviewing and developing best practices.

Ø       Participate in credit union training programs and any other function as requested

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An incumbent in this position must possess a High School Diploma, Paralegal Certificate or Associates Degree in Business and/or a minimum of two years experience in a mortgage environment. This position requires the ability to read and interpret supporting documentation and loan policies, and familiarity with required regulations, title insurance, title reports, Notes, Mortgages and related documentation.  Must be proficient in secondary market closing requirements and mortgage terminology/documentation.  Understanding of mortgage regulations (i.e. RESPA, HMDA). Requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as proficiency in pc software skills. Attention to detail, a professional appearance and a willingness to work flexible hours a must

 

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position is progression from a Paralegal or Mortgage Processor position.
