Senior Manager--Operational Risk-- ROAD WARRIOR-- NY based

This position provides operational risk consulting services to banks and other financial institutions. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

*     Serve as project manager for operational risk management consulting engagements at banking and other financial institutions firms.  Lead all aspects of the project, including the development of a project plan, staffing, assigning project responsibilities and managing the performance of all team members to meet project requirements.  Manage client expectations and interactions to maintain effective communications, client involvement and to ensure client satisfaction.

 

*     Originate operational risk management consulting projects. 

 

*     Thought leadership.  Develop the firm's eminence by demonstrating innovative thought leadership in operational risk management topics.  Demonstrate thought leadership through presentations to industry groups, participation in panel discussions, writing articles for trade journals, and through interactions with other leaders in the field.

 

3.  Requirements:

*     Possess an in-depth knowledge of all major topics related to operational risk management leading practices.  Expertise in major banking, commercial, retail and investment banking sectors are all valuable.  Experience with range of firms from money center banks to super-regional/regional, international and investment banks a plus.  Major topics include:

*     Operational risk governance structure and design

*     Operational risk policy and procedures

*     Infrastructure design, risk controls and segregation of duties

*     Operational risk measurement techniques

*     Operational risk capital modeling

*     Operational risk capital allocation

*     Basel II Advanced Measurement Approach experience

*     Operational risk internal and external loss event data collection and analysis

*     Operational risk scenario analysis experience

*     Operational risk program testing

*     Risk assessment methodologies

*     Operational risk scorecards

*     Key risk indicator development and analysis experience for relevant industry sectors and institution product/service lines

*     Familiarity with industry consortiums for operational risk loss data and other information sharing

*     Familiarity with the functionality of major operational risk technology vendors currently on the market

*     Experience with Sarbanes – Oxley, and FDICIA requirements and related programs

 

*     Possess significant contacts with the buyers of operational risk advisory projects at a large number of financial services firms.  Major bank operational risk experience a plus. 

 

*     Possess demonstrated business development skills in a professional services consulting environment.  Ability to develop high impact business development materials and presentations which address client needs and demonstrate our capabilities.  Make effective presentations of proposals to senior management.

 

*     Personal characteristics should include: strong sales, presentation, consulting, project management, client, and training / mentoring skills; proven ability to generate business; strong presence and good communications and interpersonal skills; experience in delivering services both assessing risk management capabilities as well as transforming bank risk management environments; conceptual and quantitative depth in risk methodologies and concepts and underlying markets and models; MBA preferred, and a flexible, dynamic work-style appropriate for the consulting areas of a large Big 4 Integrated Professional Services Firm.

 

*     An ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally (Up to 80% for extended periods of time, with variability depending on the current consulting projects and pursuits.  At other times there may be periods with little travel).
