SOA Middleware Product Manager - (US-NY-New York)

A hands-on Product Manager is needed to manage full product lifecycle activities. The Product Manager's responsibilities include researching market and customer requirements, defining product strategy, content and positioning, advocating customer and market requirements internally, and evangelizing the product line both internally and externally. The product manager will work closely with sales, marketing, business development, engineering, and QA.


Responsibilities include:

Gather requirements from internal and external customers. Stay on top of the competitive product landscape; understand product weaknesses and strengths relative to the competition; drive future product content to improve competitiveness of the product line.

Gather research and analyze functionality requirements, and high-level designs for new features.

Maintain complete understanding of the features and functions of the product, and be able to present product features to customers and internal audiences; train sales and sales support on products.

Develop functional specifications for software engineering. Work with software engineering on system architecture and design. Review and test prototypes. Help identify and resolve issues in customer service center. Position will involve 30% travel.


Requirements:

5-7+ years of experience in pre-sales, development, or services.

At least 3 years in product management of a technically complex product.

3-5 years of experience with an EAI, ESB or Web Services Management vendor.

Candidates should have solid experience with SOA, BPEL, and Web Services Management.

Must have a background in software product management with solid understanding of product lifecycle from inception through delivery and post-delivery support.

Understanding of the requirements associated with building highly available and scaleable software solutions is a requirement.

Strong ability to learn new technology in a short time.

Must have experience with rapid product release cycles.

Willingness for moderate travel as required to support trade shows, product introduction and customer requirements gathering
