Energetic individual with hands-on experience in investment accounting including alternative investment (hedge) funds to be part of a dynamic team. This person will work closely with various levels of the Company Investment Teams and other internal areas, as well as with external vendors. This position is responsible for areas involving security valuation, fund pricing, financial reporting, and related fund accounting and oversight functions for Company investment funds and separate account mandates. The appropriate individual must be detail-oriented with ability to identify potential valuation and reporting issues, and should possess a desire to learn multi-layered Company procedures. This person should also have the proper communication skills to act as a liaison with various internal areas, external sub-advisors, the custodian bank and other vendors.



1. Review daily and monthly fund pricing/valuation for accuracy and researching any variances.

2. Analyze performance at both fund and manager levels, including analysis of fund returns to benchmark returns and comparison of manager to custodian returns, and investigate variances.

3. Participate in the preparation and review of financial statements.

4. Work closely with custodian bank to coordinate implementation of various reporting initiatives as well as new products and services.

5. Assist in coordinating investment manager transitions and new fund and manager setup, acting as a liaison with Company investment team and custodian bank.

6. Manage the cash flow allocation process for assigned funds.

7. Review monthly and quarterly income distributions from funds and distribution ratios.

8. Ensure proper calculation and payment of designated manager asset and performance fees and other direct fund expenses.

9. Review monthly data feeds to the on-line reporting system and website to ensure accuracy.

10. Responsible for maintenance of valuation models and confirmation process for Swaps.

11. Responsible for oversight of Commonfund direct management accounts.

12. Assist in other projects as required.





REQUIRED BACKGROUND:

Four-year college degree required. Should possess at least 5 years related experience in the investment industry as well as strong accounting skills. Hedge fund, distressed debt and/or partnership accounting experience a plus. Must enjoy being a part of a small team that is committed to proactively identifying and solving problems. Must possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills as this person will work closely with all areas of and many levels of the organization. Experience with swaps, futures, options, foreign equities and foreign fixed income preferred.
