Job Description- Hardware Management Systems Programmer

 

 Support   mainframe operations. S/he will report to the Mainframe Storage Management Director and will work within the hardware management group.  The Hardware Management Systems Programmer will update and maintain the mainframe I/O configuration, install software products related to hardware management, convert connectivity from SNA to TCP/IP, perform Direct Access Storage Devise (DASD) management functions and code required SAS programs.  S/he will be assigned to projects that include the implementation of tape encryptions in the mainframe environment and the upgrading of obsolete hardware to new models of products. S/he will conduct the analysis of new hardware by the leveraging of important features, ensure the optimal performance of existing hardware as well as the efficient management of DASD space.  Additional responsibilities include servicing the mainframe and meeting response time and turnaround requirements of assigned projects.

 

Qualification Requirements:

1. A master's degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using mainframe, mini- or micro-computer technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing, at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described in "1" above; or 4. Education and experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and must possess at least three years of experience as described in "1" above, including the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.

 

Preferred Skills:

5 years hands-on experience with MVS mainframe operation systems for large complex organizations. .Experience working with SAS, MXG, RMF and OMEGAMON. . Knowledge of IOCP, encryption, HCD and SMF reporting. .Ability to work independently with minimal direction. .Ability to plan, manage and report on progress.
