Work with internal and external groups on daily DNS tasks and responsibilities. Gathering data, coordinating with site contacts, network and project teams, making changes to DNS / DHCP settings and problem resolution. ISC (Internet Software Consortium) BIND and DHCP are the DNS / DHCP applications that have been deployed. Basic troubleshooting of network problems (PING, traceroute, sniffer/ethereal network traces, etc.). Familiarity with change control and problem management methodologies. Thorough understanding of network services like DHCP, DNS, SNMP, Syslog, NTP, etc. . Experience in a large multi-location organization is a plus. Operation familiarity with one or more of the following: . Cisco routers . Cisco LAN switches . Linux. AIX. Solaris. Ad-Hoc Perl Scripting as needed . Monitoring the DNS/DHCP servers . Implement new DNS/DHCP servers .

• Demonstrate advanced skill levels in multiple technical skill areas, particularly those relevant to DNS, Unix, Bind, and Perl.
• Share pager duty, per the schedule maintained by the team.
• Act as the Problem Owner for critical recovery situations.
• Perform or direct problem analysis and recovery by applying operating system, product and systems programming experience.
• Perform problem diagnosis in the DNS environment as it relates to DNS and related products/components with or without vendor assistance, but able to do initial diagnosis alone.
• Assist Application Portfolios with application problem diagnosis in the DNS environment.
• Assist with problem recovery issues escalated from lower tiers.
• Execute escalation under our value system. Provide detailed communication to our management team for significant problems. Provide all known pertinent information to other areas when they need to be engaged in the problem.
• Perform customization tasks for DNS and related components/products. Perform DNS statistics analysis and subsequent tuning to maintain a stable DNS environment.
• Participate in Enterprise Projects as they relate to the DNS environment. Provide technical solutions.
• Represent EPS to other groups on technical issues, attend other groups’ technical sessions and educate other groups on the DNS role.
• Participate in internal EPS projects.
• Drive internal Technical Services projects – single handedly guiding the effort and other staff personnel.
• Document the DNS environments that are supported and maintain application flow documentation to the extent necessary for overall system support.
• Assist in the creation and design of new DNS environment architectures.
• Assist in platform performance and capacity reporting based on metrics gathered by team.


• High level of technical, analytical and problem solving skills, as well as leadership and supervisory skills.
• Minimum 2 years experience in RedHat Linux system administration in a medium to large organization.
• DNS’s role in Disaster Recovery enhancements.
• DNS Performance and Capacity Planning.
• 2-3 years hands on experience as a DNS administrator with experience troubleshooting DNS or DHCP issues.
• Experience with VmWare, Solaris, AIX, and Red Hat Linux administration is a bonus.
• Experience with SNMP, TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, Cisco equipment is a bonus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with ITIL discipline is a bonus.
• Experience with Six Sigma methodology is a bonus.
