To conduct research to recover minerals and metals from their ores under close supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The employee in this classification is responsible for research to recover minerals and metals from ores. The employee will operate a light vehicle, two-way radios and office machines. The employee must comply with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures and the company's environmental compliance policy. The employee will perform other duties as directed and needed by the company to ensure optimal safe operation.

The employee must be able to:
Conduct chemical research, under supervision, in the design, development or production of minerals and metals from ore by flotation, smelting, electrolysis, cyanide leach, or other processes.
Prepare and submit preliminary reports of findings for management review.
Keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the metallurgical engineering field.
Assist Senior Metallurgist.
Conduct environmental and safety inspections.
Walk, climb, stoop and carry small items on uneven surfaces for the purpose of maneuvering around equipment and facilities.
Walk on rough, wet terrain, climb stairs and maneuver into tight quarters in the lab facilities.
Hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches and warning alarms.
Hold and operate a telephone and two-way radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating and providing feedback.
Read, comprehend, interpret and learn metallurgical information, technical data, Material Safety Data Sheets, labels on products, warning signs and numbers on monitors and gauges to prevent loss of personnel, property and process.
Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, respirators, wet suits, earplugs, gloves or any other equipment to perform duties safely.

Candidate Must Have :
* BS degree in Engineering
* Conduct chemical research, under supervision, in the design, development or production of minerals and metals from ore by flotation, smelting, electrolysis, cyanide leach, or other processes.
* Conduct environmental and safety inspections
* Extractive/plant mineral processing experience.
