Supervisor-level position. This position coordinates with all other parts of outsourcing firm and IT. This position will direct the activities of several Software development resources and data center operational staff, as it relates to the creation, maintenance and day to day operations of several application systems.
ROLE
Manages a team of development staff and is responsible for day-to-day application support functions as well management of small to medium size projects based on a broad range of technology platforms including Web-Based, and Client-server.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Developing application development policies and standards to address emerging business needs and requirements
Manage all aspects of application development and implementation.
Guides Development teams (internal and 3rd Party Software Vendors) by reviewing their application architecture for adherence to standards, integration and integrity compliance.
Provide strategic level technical leadership to the application development and support group, IT, and the enterprise
Manage Production support group
Provide input to Software Configuration Management Processes
Provide direction on build or buy decisions pertaining to software solutions.
Ensure Audit & Controls within each of the applications to ensure compliance requirements.
Staff development including assessing skill levels and training requirements.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in a computer related field.
Strong Property & Casualty industry knowledge
Must have a working knowledge of designing, developing and marinating applications based on following technologies:
o J2EE platform
o .NET platform
o Messaging technologies (preferably IBM MQ)
o Web technologies
Web Services§
SoA architecture§
Web portals
Web content Management§
XML
o Client-Server technologies
o Exposure to Mainframe technologies is a plus.
OTHER SKILLS
7-10 years of Application development & support experience.
Minimum four years of supervising application development & support staff.
Must be highly self-reliant and motivated, and able to take ownership of tasks through completion.
Strong communication skills - ability to relate to both technical and non-technical team members
