Principal Engineer to conduct research activities in the area of design, architecture, simulation and verification of embedded systems, with emphasis on distributed real-time applications supported by conventional and innovative communication technologies.

The Embedded Systems Principal Research Engineer will contribute to development and growth of a research program focused on methods and a modeling infrastructure to support the analysis, design, simulation and verification of real-time distributed embedded systems. New methods and tools will have direct application to challenging problems arising in the business units, such as the deployment of wireless fire protection systems in large commercial buildings, the creation of a new generation of elevator high rise embedded controls, and the design of safety critical aircraft power distribution controls. The Principal Research Engineer will be a technical leader creating ideas, marketing and securing funding, guiding junior researchers in the development of technology projects, supporting Project Leaders with planning, tracking and execution, and engaging with the business units and external partners in research collaborations.

Candidate Must Have :
* MA/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 12+ years experience post graduation (prefer PhD degree with 8+ years of industrial or academic experience post graduation.)
* Expertise in one or more of the following areas: real real-time operating systems for embedded controls applications, ad-hoc communication networks including wireless sensor networks, software (UML, SystemC) and system modeling (MATLAB/Simulink), and automated code generation (e.g. Real Time Workshop, TargetLink)
* Proven track record in leading research directions demonstrated by engagement within the research community, securing funding through research proposals, publication on peer-reviewed archival journals, creation of patented inventions
* Superior communication skills and ability to provide timely, accurate and detailed reports and presentations.
* Entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation
