4.4  Systems Engineer/SYSTEM ADMIN - TECH ENGINEER/SYSTEMS ANALYST-

 $65-70k + 10% bonus max, more of an administrator than an engineer

Supervisory Responsibilities

§         None required.

 

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities

§         Assist in developing and maintaining all operating system, hardware and software configurations for servers

§         Assist in maintaining standards for all peripheral devices, including (but not limited to) printers, scanners, modems, storage devices (CD ROM drives, floppy drives), backup devices (Jazz drives, DAT drives), etc.

§         Schedule and performs tests, validate all server operating system, hardware and software computing technology standards in our production environment

§         Interact with other engineering and development areas (Networking, Application Development, etc.) to ensure that all relevant technical requirements and considerations are being addressed

§         Receive 3rd level problem ticket escalations and acts as a higher level of support to Support Center. Troubleshoot and resolve operating system, hardware and software problems for servers and peripherals

§         Assist with assigned/related technical projects. Performing key project tasks & milestones and reporting project status on a regular basis through project completion

§         Work with Technology Solutions Team to assess new technology products or processes to improve the current computing environment

§         Utilize problem management system to track all issues, ownership of ticket/problem resolution management and provide statistic reporting to management as required

§         Assist with installation of application software, including security, permissions, process management, monitoring, and problem notification and escalation

§         Assist with ensuring backups are configured, scheduled, and turned over to operations

§         Maintain documentation related to supported systems

§         Assist with managing, maintaining, and monitoring all Microsoft servers

§         Perform daily monitoring for the Windows systems and hardware to ensure health and capacity of the systems

§         Performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning.  Report on performance and availability

§         Overall accountability for projects assigned to ensure completion in a timely manner

§         Person will participate in 24 x 7 support

§         Participate in the design and recovery of systems through backup operations or Disaster recovery planning

§         Installs and maintain applications. Works with users and application developers to install and maintain application software, including security, permissions, process management, monitoring, and problem notification and escalation.

 

Technical Skills Required

§         Install, configure, administer & support MS Windows NT/2000/2003 operating systems for servers

§         Configure and administer MS Active directory, IIS, ISA, DNS, Wins and DHCP

§         Install, configure and support MS Exchange Server environment

§         Install, configure and support Compaq StorageWorks enterprise storage solution.

§         Install, configure and support Veritas NetBackup solution

§         Assemble, configure and support state-of-the-art server and associated peripherals.

§         Prepare and follow detailed technical project assessments and plans

§         Knowledge of networking (LAN & WAN) architecture and equipment (cabling, switches, hubs, etc). .

 

Minimum Job Qualifications

§         Proven knowledge/competency in the above Technical Skills requirements. Any technical certification (i.e. MCSE) in one or more of those skills is desired.

§         Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent)

§         Minimum 3+ years full-time experience in a systems engineering or support role.

§         Must be able to work well as a self-starter, and be able to work well independently and in a team environment.
