JOB SUMMARY: Supports the oversight and management of an assigned commercial or personal line product(s) staff function. Develops and/or enhances underwriting products and services Coordinates efforts between home office and field operations. Aids in the development and assists with the implementation of strategies that support multiple product related profitability objectives. Supports assigned state/regional and operations functions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as product/underwriting expert for specific products, states and/or special projects. Serves as subject matter expert to other offices for related products and processes.
2. Actively manages the performance of assigned products, initiatives and other related product staff functions. This will include monitoring product performance, identifying opportunities to improve performance, working with line operations to implement improvement programs, field liaison and consultation with other operations/offices.
3. Leads key initiatives to address the product strategy and growth and profitability objectives. Accountable for product results in assigned geography.
4. Provides technical assistance and consultation to state/regional underwriting and services leadership
5. Responsible for project management for assigned initiatives. Ensures that each area within the function is following the formal project management process for those projects designated as high priority.
6. Serves on various project teams as assigned. Leads related project teams as assigned based on business need.
7. Performs field visits to review issues with agents, state/region leadership and service centers.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree or post-graduate studies preferred. Relevant professional designation such as CPCU highly desirable. Requires proven knowledge of property/casualty products, insurance company operations, field and staff functions, industry trends, and project management. In-depth knowledge of assigned product line ( homeowners/property) required.
Experience: Typically eight years product related underwriting experience; prefer field management experience.
Skills: Demonstrated decision-making and analysis skills. Ability to communicate with field leadership, staff management and other departments.. Ability to lead project team members in all aspects of product/underwriting activities.
Candidate Must Have :
* Understanding of the ISO Protection Classification codes and rules
* Familiarity with ESRI (GIS and Mapping) products
* Personal Lines Property Product/Pricing Experience
* Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Access and other database software
* Excellent verbal/written communication skills in a complex, matrixed organization
