JOB description  - Operate Division
Senior technology operations position in Jersey City, NJ to support the Global Margin system and/or Futures/Options and FX Clearing Technology.   4 positions are available in Jersey City.

The firm’s global margin system provides margin exposure information as well as collateral details, liquidity values and position and balance information used in margining an account.   Business areas covers include Prime Broker, Equity Finance, Fixed Income, PCS, Futures and Derivatives. The system main function is to ensure the ‘firm’ is not financially exposed due to security/cash fluctuation in the financial market.

The Futures, Options and FX Clearing platform uses a mix of vendor systems and in-house developed applications.  The clearing platform covers several major business lines including Futures Client Service, Prime Broker, Foreign, Fixed Income and Equity Proprietary Trading Desks, Energy Markets and Operations.  As exchange traded products are used by many business divisions, the clearing platform is an important component of the firm’s success.

For the right individual, there is also the opportunity to lead the Operate Division.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Engineering oversight of the margin and clearing applications. 
2. Day-to-day support of the system and Clearing platforms researching/resolving production issues and user inquiries
3. Working closely with system and Clearing development teams and Global Operate team.
4. Oversee and execute Quality Assurance program for all system enhancements and changes.
5. Lead the strategic direction of the systems through full involvement in the SDLC, capacity planning, metrics gathering/analysis for operational efficiency and runtime quality.  Approval authority for architecture and technology designs.
6. Develop automation for monitoring and testing.

Essential Requirements

1. 3-4 years working experience supporting tier-1, mission critical applications with near 24/7 uptime requirements.
2. Manager role would require 7- 8 years relevant work experience and strong experience with  process and controls.
3. Strong QA background and methodology.  Must have good proficiency with testing tools including QuickTest Pro, WinRunner/LoadRunner.
4. Experience with systems availability and performance monitoring tools/standards
5. Application profiling and quality assurance tools including JProbe and JTest
6. Problem management and escalation
7. Oracle 8i/9i, PLSQL Stored Procedures
8. Unix/Linux shell scripting
9. 2-3 years experience in financial IT industry, especially in the Equity, Fixed Income and Derivatives products.
10.  The candidate must be highly self-motivated confident and mature, well developed analytical and problem solving skills with the aptitude to learn as well as a flexibility to adapt to change.
11. The position requires excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with clients and senior management from all levels.
12. Team player and proven ability to work under pressure and manage production break situations to a successful conclusion.
13. Organized and good planner
14. Adopt best practices in his/her work in accordance with best practices for operational support and excellence.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related field or foreign equivalent.
