Senior C++ Developer

The trading systems group is seeking a motivated C++/C software engineer to design and develop new user applications as well as enhance and refactor existing software.

We are looking for a strong technologist to participate in the design and implementation of the firm's principal trading applications, as well as to participate in the maintenance, enhancement, and daily operation of the existing capabilities.  Ideal candidates will possess a combination of strong technical skills, as well as strong interest in the business processes and financial concepts of equity and derivatives.  Prior knowledge of real time and high frequency trading systems is desirable, but is not required.

Principal Responsibilities

Candidates will have extensive interaction with business analysts, systems lead, and traders within the trading systems IT group to develop C++ backend server components and applications.  Responsibilities would span full life cycle of development, from initial analysis and requirements gathering with users, through design, development, testing, and release.

High profile and mission-critical projects will require candidates to become familiar with the underlying businesses and product lines we support, as well as our coding and design standards.

Experience / Skills

Required Technical Expertise:

• Minimum of 6 years of experience with C++/C
• Knowledge of Visual C++ development on windows
• Experience with Client/server development (hands-on TCP, UDP, and Multicast sockets development experience).
• Clear understanding of OO design and implementation fundamentals
• Experience with client/server development (hands-on TCP, UDP, and Multicast sockets development experience)
• Knowledge of multithreading in C++

Required Personal Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills
• Strong initiative and sense of ownership.
• Comfortable working under pressure and aggressive schedules.
• Strong desire to learn about equity and derivatives high frequency trading systems.
• Working knowledge and proficiency in software engineering principles applicable to large systems.

Preferred

• Financial industry experience especially with a real-time trading system/product
• Prior experience to financial messaging protocol (e.g. FIX)
• Knowledge of ACE and Boost
